INDIGENOUS COLLEGE STUDENT MENTORSHIPS

Native Ways 2 College (NW2C) is seeking dedicated Indigenous college undergraduate students to serve as college guidance mentors for indigenous  high school seniors and incoming college freshman.

This mentorship is rooted in community, reciprocity and supporting one another. We understand the unique experiences of navigating Westernized institutions while carrying our identities, families and communities with us. This role is designed to strengthen a circle of support for indigenous students transitioning into college.
 RESPONSIBILITES 
  • Meet consistently (virtually or in person, if accessible) with one assigned high school senior or first year college student
  • Commit 8-10 hours per week to mentorship, check-in, preparation and NW2C coordination
  • Share personal experiences navigating college as a Native student and provide encouragement
  • Maintain communication with NW2C staff regarding mentorship progress
 QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Currently enrolled as a college freshman or sophomores
  • Identify as an AI/AN student
  •  Communicative, reliable and consistent
  • Value Indigenous communities, accountability and cultural identity
